About The Role: Play a key role in delivering safe, efficient high-pressure gas operations that support critical energy infrastructure across the UK. As a Project Delivery Engineer, you'll lead operational delivery of both planned and emergency works, taking full ownership of projects from conception through to completion. You'll be responsible for ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, compliance, and customer service. Working closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders, you'll coordinate resources, manage risks, and provide technical leadership to ensure successful project outcomes across a diverse portfolio of gas network activities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead multi-disciplined teams and contractors, ensuring work is delivered safely, productively, and in line with agreed programmes.
  • Manage the safe setting to work of operational activities, acting as Job Owner where required and ensuring compliance with Safe Control of Operations procedures.
  • Deliver planned work and projects within agreed timescales and budgets, while maintaining a strong customer focus.
  • Support business growth by developing estimates, quotations, business cases and technical solutions for customers and new opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational performance, and financial efficiency to achieve business and KPI targets.
  • Develop team capability through coaching, performance management, competency reviews, and ongoing technical development.
  • Support the CEME standby rota, leading emergency response activities and providing operational support during pipeline incidents and other critical network events.

What you'll bring: This role would suit someone who has experience leading operational teams within a high-pressure gas or similar safety-critical engineering environment and is confident balancing safety, technical delivery, and customer requirements.

Essential:

  • HNC/ONC qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline, or significant demonstrable experience in high-pressure gas operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of high-pressure operations and the operation and maintenance of high-pressure gas networks.
  • Detailed understanding of Safe Control of Operations procedures, including SCO 1, SCO 2, SCO 91 and SCO 94, with experience undertaking the role of Job Owner.
  • Experience planning and managing operational work programmes, resources, and project delivery activities.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, industry standards, and safe systems of work, ideally including CDM requirements.
  • Experience leading teams and contractors to deliver safe, compliant, and customer-focused outcomes.
