Salary: £27,362 per annum plus 20% shift allowance (£5,472 per annum).
Full-time, Permanent. Shift pattern: 12‑hour shifts rotating (2‑day/2‑night shifts followed by 6 days off), averaging 35 hours per week. Additional 6 flexible shifts per year.
About the Role
Security Attendant in the Security & Visitor Engagement team responsible for protecting the National Galleries of Scotland’s collection and buildings while ensuring visitors’ safety and enjoyment.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and respond to security and fire systems, CCTV and alarm monitoring.
- Carry out patrols, control access to restricted areas and support emergency procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, complete incident reports, handovers and other documentation using MS Office software.
Qualifications:
- Strong judgement, professionalism and ability to remain calm in changing situations.
- Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to follow instructions and procedures consistently.
- Comfort with learning new security systems; training will be provided.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, Bank Holidays and public holidays.
