Post Title: Data Quality Technician

Contract: Fixed-Term until April 2027

Salary: Grade 4 (£26,403-£28,142) pro rota. To increase subject to national pay award negotiations for 2026.

Hours: Full Time – 37 Hours per week (Flexi Time)

Key benefits: 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays (36 days holiday a year). Increasing with length of service to a maximum of 37 days per year plus Bank Holidays (45 days holiday a year). An opportunity has arisen within Business Intelligence for a Data Quality Technician based at Headquarters in Sheffield. This position is offered on a fixed-term basis until April 2027.

The overall purpose of the role will be to ensure the execution of data quality routines, proactively monitoring and reporting on data quality issues. The role also involves providing systems administration and support in data collection systems.

To be considered for this role, you will have previous experience with:

  • Working in data quality management or a similar role.
  • Supporting the development of key documentation.
  • Providing systems administration and support for data collection systems.

You must possess strong problem‑solving skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and an understanding of data quality management tools. You must be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

The key duties will include supporting Business Intelligence in managing key data collection systems, ensuring data quality to support informed decision‑making, ensuring quality assurance of statutory obligations and submitting data to the National Fire Chiefs Council, Ministry for Housing Community and Local Government and other organisations.

You will conduct system reviews, recommend performance improvements, collate and validate statistical returns, perform daily data quality checks, and maintain supporting documentation. Additionally, you will track and audit data passing through Business Intelligence managed systems.
