This exciting apprenticeship offers the chance to learn from an experienced Procurement team and play a key role in ensuring Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service has the equipment and resources it needs to protect our communities. You’ll develop practical skills in sourcing, data handling, supplier liaison and stock control, all while working towards a recognised Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification. No two days will be the same, one moment you’ll be helping manage stock levels and the next supporting the processing of orders or learning how contracts and quotations are managed. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Procurement section with a full range of procurement and stores support activities.
- Support with requesting quotations and liaising with suppliers to ensure goods and services are delivered to the agreed standards, timelines and costs.
- Help create and maintain spreadsheets, databases and electronic records as directed.
- Input, download and analyse data from financial and procurement systems to support spend profiles, stock usage and trend analysis.
- Use computerised systems including MS Word, MS Excel and the organisation’s financial management and procurement systems.
- Assist in maintaining the product catalogue and asset management information.
- Undertake general office duties including filing, record‑keeping and administrative tasks.
- Gain experience in warehouse and stores processes including picking, packing, dispatching goods, housekeeping and stocktaking.
Experience/Qualification
- GCSEs in Maths and English (A–C or equivalent).
- Experience using Windows applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills both face‑to‑face and over the telephone.
- Willingness to learn with an enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
