A full-time opportunity has arisen in the ICT department, based at Service Headquarters, Hindlip Park. The primary role of ICT Senior Technician is to support, develop and maintain the core HWFRS business critical systems, including but not limited to Fire Control mobilisation, Microsoft Office 365, Azure, Entra, Active Directory, Virtualisation Platforms VM Ware, Hyper V, System backups, File System Access, SharePoint Online, and network access perimeter and security.
As part of this role, you will be required to participate in the Out of Hours ICT Senior Technicians rota which is currently covering 1 in 5 weeks. This attracts an 18.69% per annum enhancement to the ICT Senior Technician’s salary. It is expected you would start out of hours cover once your initial training period had been completed.
The ideal applicant will be in possession of a degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Technology, Management of Information Systems, or significant proven experience within an enterprise business environment providing critical server/infrastructure 3rd line support. Working knowledge of cloud services and SaaS operating models would be highly desirable, along with industry qualifications, such as Microsoft, Cisco and ITIL.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in supporting a comprehensive range of ICT services
- Significant working knowledge of Microsoft architectures, ideally at Enterprise level
- Substantial working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
- Significant experience working with enterprise networks, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VoIP, VPNs and enterprise firewall security
- Experience of Microsoft Cloud services, such as Office 365 and Azure / Entra and Microsoft Exchange would be a distinct advantage
- Considerable working knowledge of Cisco networking device configuration and security including switches and routers in a corporate network environment
- Considerable working knowledge of server virtualization technologies, VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V or others
- Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- The ability to play a major role in ICT technical projects
- The ability to identify technical problems and offer logical solutions
The successful applicant will be subject to a NPPV Level 3 Vetting Check, as we are co-located on West Mercia Police premises. Possession of a current, valid driving licence is also required.
