Fleet Vehicle Acquisition Officer – West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service
We’re seeking a Fleet Procurement Specialist who will be at the heart of delivering high-value fleet replacement projects.
The Opportunity
Salary:£36,363 to £39,152 per annum.
Working Pattern:Full-time, 37 hours per week. You may sometimes be required to work varied patterns to ensure the service needs are met.
Location:Your base will be Fleet Workshops, Power Place, Chichester and a typical week will combine homeworking with attendance at the office or visits around the County. This is led by the needs of the service.

Play a pivotal role in shaping the efficiency and sustainability of our vehicle fleet. We’re seeking a Fleet Procurement Specialist who will be at the heart of delivering high-value fleet replacement projects—ensuring cost-effective, strategic, and timely vehicle procurement for both the Council and Fire & Rescue services.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end procurement process for fleet vehicles, supporting the Fleet Resource and Support Team Leader.
- Ensure delivery of a £22m Fleet Asset Management Plan aligned with the Capital Programme Office.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, advising on vehicle specs, procurement strategies, and supplier engagement.
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to maintain a forward-looking, value-driven vehicle replacement programme.
- Contribute to a customer-focused fleet service in line with the Corporate Procurement Strategy.
What are we looking for?
- Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full driving license.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering a customer focused service within agreed performance measures.
- Experience of delivering a high-quality service.
- Experience of effective budget management or procurement to ensure that external and internal budgeted expenditure, income, targets and appropriate processes are met.
