The Targeted Education Team delivers early intervention programmes that help young people build resilience and develop skills to handle life’s challenges. These programmes use proven methods to reduce vulnerability and strengthen protective factors.

You will work to reduce playing with fire and deliberate fire setting amongst children and young people with early intervention and effective education by understanding the circumstances that lead young people to start fires.

You will visit homes, schools and other establishments to give guidance to parents, carers and professionals who may be concerned about a child or young person playing with fire.

You will occasionally be working in challenging and emotionally demanding environments. You will support young people who may be hard to reach, have experienced trauma, challenges in school, home educated or live in children’s homes. You will be required to work closely with families, teachers, and other agencies to educate and empower vulnerable and at-risk children and young people.

Applications are welcome from substantive Crew Managers or competent Firefighters in the WSFRS Crew Manager Development Centre Ready to Progress Pool. Applicants must be currently employed by a Local Authority Fire & Rescue Service.
