Assistant Business Partner: Media & Engagement – Avon Fire and Rescue Service
Summary of role
Under the supervision of the Senior Business Partner PR & Engagement, you will be responsible for the delivery of effective and impactful external communications, media and public relations and engagement across multiple channels to achieve departmental objectives aligned to AF&RS values, promoting safety advice and maintaining public confidence.
You will design and develop targeted and creative AF&RS campaigns, feeding into national fire and rescue service campaigns, using audience insight and behaviour changing strategies, to improve the Service’s ability to communicate effectively with our communities.
You may also be considered for the other vacancy with the Corporate Communication Team, should your skills and experience align closer to that criteria.
Some of the things you’ll be doing
• Lead on daily planning, content generation and delivery of external communication across the Service.
• Write engaging and impactful content such as press releases and news items for the website, promoting the Service’s achievements and raising awareness of key community and fire safety messages.
• Plan, design and develop innovative and creative campaigns to positively influence the behaviour of the Service’s external and internal audiences, promote community and fire safety advice and maintain public confidence.
• Facilitate and support AF&RS presence at events through the liaison and briefing of internal and external audiences.
• Work with the Senior Business Partner PR & Engagement to identify the appropriate use of new media as a tool to reach and communicate with our diverse communities and specifically those members of our community who are ‘hard to reach’ or vulnerable.
• Learn, engage with and maximise the web-based applications and content management systems being used as key communications channels
• Produce creative live and scheduled content, leading on the day-to-day management of the Service’s social media accounts.
• Provide reactive crisis communications support in response to a significant organisational issue or major incident.
