Administrative Assistant (West Moors Training Centre) – Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service

Hours: Part Time – 15 hours per week

Working Pattern:

Option 1: Two days per week (Thursday and Friday), 7.5 hours each day

Option 2: Three days per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), 5 hours each day

The working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Location: West Moors Training Centre. The role will initially be based at West Moors Training Centre, however, the Service is currently reviewing the location of the Training Centre and the role may be required to relocate to a different location within the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service area in the future.

Appointment Type: Permanent

As an Administrative Assistant in our Operational Training department you will:

  • Provide a range of administrative services including word processing, reception, post and filing duties.
  • Maintain the Training Centre resources inventory
  • Be responsible for making arrangements for the catering of training events, in accordance with agreed procedures

What makes you our ideal Administrative Assistant?

  • 4 GCSE passes – Grade A*- C / 9 – 4, including English and Mathematics or equivalent Level 2 qualification (including L2 functional skills), or higher-level relevant qualification
  • Experience of reception duties including filing, photocopying, scanning and printing duties and responding appropriately to enquiries via phone and email
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Other Information:

  • You must be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role, which includes very occasional travel to meetings or training within the Dorset and Wiltshire area.
  • A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment.
  • Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre-employment checks which include identity checks, right to work in the UK, medical, negative drug test, receipt of satisfactory references, verification of employment history and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last 3 years.

Salary: £26,824 – £28,142 per annum (rising by annual increments to £28,142)
