First established in 1971, the National Film and Television School (NFTS) has evolved to become a leading global institution, developing some of Britain and the world’s top creative talent in film, television and games. The NFTS is expanding its campus, increasing student capacity by 25%, and launching bold new courses in costume design, hair and make‑up, virtual production and advanced animation.

We are currently recruiting for a Multi‑skilled Maintenance Team Leader to support the Estates & Facilities Manager with the safe and efficient operation of the NFTS site at Beaconsfield. The Maintenance Team Leader will support the completion and supervision of day‑to‑day maintenance tasks, meeting SLAs and KPIs to ensure a clean and safe environment for students, staff and visitors. You will also assist the Estates & Facilities Manager with compliance reporting and managing third‑party suppliers and external contractors.

This role would suit someone with a good understanding of building maintenance, repairs and refurbishments and experience of managing staff. The ideal candidate will have a problem‑solving mindset, experience of building and equipment maintenance procedures and a good command of health and safety regulations and practices.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building and grounds maintenance: Proactively seek out and attend to maintenance tasks across the entire facility.
  • Cleaning: Continuously monitor the site and liaise with cleaning contractors or undertake jobs as required.
  • Operational: Oversee the maintenance of the site, ensuring the smooth day to day running of the buildings, car parks and grounds.
  • Security: Ensure the integrity of the physical security measures around the site and address any breaches in a timely fashion.
  • Maintenance, testing and inspections: Undertake compliance inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and safety systems.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure policies are adhered to at all times and records are kept up to date.
  • Space allocation and changes: Play an active role in the space allocation requirements.
  • Contracts: Act as an intermediary contact for all contract queries and requirements.
  • Budget Management: Assist the Estates & Facilities Manager with monitoring the budget for the department.
  • Value for Money: Support the School to achieve Value for Money in all its activities.

Person Specification

  • A good organiser, making sure that the workplace meets the needs of students and employees.
  • Flexibility in working hours if required.
  • Works well under pressure, understands the need for urgency.
  • Student, Staff and other Stakeholder focussed and ability to manage their needs and expectations.
  • Certification or other evidence of knowledge relevant to Facilities Management.
  • A track record of successful experience gained in Facilities.
  • A broad knowledge or demonstrable skills across various construction trades or practices.
  • Experienced in working with others to achieve necessary goals using collaborative working.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and to change priorities quickly if needed.
