Purpose of the role & how you will contribute

As a Customer Services Adviser you will work in a customer facing team and be the first point of contact for our members and the public providing telephone support to address their queries or to signpost them to further support. The role also handles outgoing calls to carry out research and to support the renewal of memberships.

What you’ll bring

It is therefore essential you have experience of working in a customer service environment dealing with significant call volumes and can deliver a professional service in an enthusiastic, confident, and courteous manner. You must have the ability to work within established procedures and enjoy undertaking what can be, at times, routine work. Good Microsoft Office skills are also important.

Join us and you’ll find an organisation that encourages and enables you to achieve your full potential. In return you will be rewarded with a full range of benefits including:

  • Generous holiday allowance (starting at 25 days a year + Bank Holidays, rising to 30 days with length of service), plus 1 annual Christmas company day
  • Option to buy and sell up to 5 days annual leave
  • Company funded health Cashplan
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental leave
  • Performance‑related pay
  • Competitive Pension and Life assurance
  • Access to interest‑free loans for cars, bikes, season tickets and driving lessons
  • Employee Assistance program to help you deal with life’s challenges
  • Discounts on a range of new vehicles, holiday rentals, wellbeing and lifestyle and many more
  • Attractive, modern office, with on‑site restaurant and free parking

Who we are

Every day, we're the voice of around 43,000 British farmers and growers who produce food, making sure their concerns are heard at the heart of government both online and locally. This means developing strong relationships with everyone from NFU colleagues to government ministers. So, as well as having a high profile in both the media and Westminster, we work with and support local members through a network of regional and county offices across England and Wales.

Business Services

This role sits within the biggest department in the NFU. There is a plethora of roles that cover multiple disciplines including sales, customer service, legal advice, administration and so much more. With the other half of the roles being on the front line, delivering the best experience possible, is our highest priority, whether that’s creating the right first impression for visitors, making outbound calls, to seek members' views, or helping to answer member queries from the c.50k calls we receive each year. The remaining roles have a commercial focus to generate income for the organisation. This is achieved through selling membership, developing partnerships with discount providers that also supplement the membership offering, delivering paid for services to both members and non‑members and selling advertising space in our publications and on our websites.

We’re committed to recruiting a diverse and highly talented workforce. We’ll support you by providing you with extensive learning and development opportunities and build a career that balances your professional ambitions with your personal commitments including discussions around agile and flexible work options.
