Join us on the Journey... Are you a numbers person with a sharp eye for detail? National Express is on the hunt for a Finance Assistant to join our UK Shared Services team in Birmingham. In this role, you will be the vital link between our business, our suppliers, and our partners. You will ensure our financial controls are rock solid and that our suppliers are paid accurately and on time. If you have a passion for problem solving and a background in Accounts Payable, we want to hear from you.
What you’ll do
- Be the Point of Contact: Act as the primary lead for supplier escalations and coordinate between various business functions.
- Resolve Queries: Tackle issues related to debit balances and unapproved invoices.
- Manage Payments: Review and process all payment types—including BACS, CHAPS, and Direct Debits—across all companies.
- Maintain the Ledger: Take ownership of supplier maintenance and regular ledger reviews to keep our data clean.
- Report & Analysis: Construct weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to keep the business informed on performance.
- Financial Admin: Handle banking, manage company credit administration, and resolve internal queries.
What you’ll bring
- Proven Experience: At least 2 years of experience working in an Accounts Payable or finance environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is essential, and experience in accounting systems is a major plus.
