We are excited to be partnering with a leading chilled food manufacturer to recruit an experienced Backshift Line Leader to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and hands-on professional to take on a key leadership role during the afternoon/evening shift in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
This role is ideal for individuals with proven food production experience, particularly in fresh produce or chilled manufacturing, who are ready to lead a team and help deliver operational excellence during the later part of the day.
- This position offers a competitive salary plus a daily shift uplift in recognition of working unsociable hours (after 6:00pm).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of production operatives on the backshift (3:00pm-11:30pm).
- Ensure full compliance with GMP, food safety, and hygiene standards throughout the shift.
- Monitor and manage performance, productivity, and team attendance.
- Deliver the daily production plan on time, escalating any issues promptly.
- Ensure all production paperwork is completed to the required legal and technical standards.
- Participate in pre-production checks and support new product launches.
- Liaise with senior management to resolve line issues efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain safe and correct use of all equipment, reporting any faults or concerns.
- Support internal audits and help implement corrective/preventative actions.
- Foster a positive, team-focused culture and promote fair task rotation across the shift.
What We\’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years\’ experience in a Line Leader or similar supervisory role within a food production or FMCG environment.
- Solid experience working with chilled or fresh food products.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on, practical approach.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and production compliance.
- Confident with basic IT systems, including Microsoft Office and production reporting tools.
