Are you organised, detail oriented, and ready to support the next generation of drivers? National Express is looking for an Administration Assistant to join our Driver Development department.

In this role, you will be the backbone of our training centres, supporting everything from theory invigilating to the onboarding of new driver applicants. If you enjoy a busy environment where no two days are the same and you can truly help people progress in their careers, this is the role for you.

Where you will be

This role is primarily based at our training centre in Perry Barr. However, on occasion, you may also be required to support our Walsall and Coventry locations, as well as other company sites as needed.

Hours of work

The contract is for 20 hours per week worked as shorter days. Exact hours will be arranged, and flexibility is required to meet the needs of the role.

What you will do

  • Support the Journey: Facilitate the onboarding process for new drivers by arranging start dates, making support calls, and issuing essential company documents.
  • Master the Systems: Accurately input training data into Salesforce and internal trackers.
  • Liaise & Coordinate: Act as a key contact for the training team and training instructors, helping to progress candidates toward their employment dates.
  • Manage Compliance: Process company DBS checks and utilize the DVLA system for checking driving licences.
  • Proctor & Assess: Support the DVSA approved in house theory testing centres by administering tests and facilitating necessary assessments.
  • Keep Us Moving: Prepare employment contracts and oversee a shared email account.

  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and politely with visitors, trainees, and external agencies.
  • Technical Ability: Good computer and numeracy skills, including the ability to generate reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Team Player Spirit: A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within the Driver Development team.
  • Customer Focus: A commitment to providing high standards of service to both internal colleagues and external candidates.
  • Experience (Bonus): Previous experience in a busy administration department is advantageous.
