National Express are recruiting an experienced Operations Inspector to join the team. Based at our Acocks Green Garage. The successful candidate will monitor and improve the performance of key services and enhance the customer experience, as well as liaising with the Central Control Room to ensure that all services are operating to the optimum level.
What you\’ll do:
Monitor quality from a customer perspective; headway, vehicle cleanliness, destination screens, interior information and publicity, information at bus stops, driver presentation and attitude, driving standards etc
Oversee service out/in at garages when instructed and ensure VCR\’s are completed correctly by Drivers
Ensure all drivers are safe and fit to be at work at all times
Demonstrate effective oversight of driver performance, and continuously ensuring effective management of drivers and their performance is being applied
Drive buses as required and ensure mileage is completed (if qualified)
Effectively and efficiently communicate in a clear, precise and approachable manner with the Central Control Room, Drivers, Traffic Offices and Engineering teams
Assist in cascading information to Drivers where and when necessary, and to give Drivers clear guidelines on diversions and explain routes as appropriate
Ensure that Drivers comply with Company Policies and Procedures at all times
Ensure good customer care is delivered. To promote a positive Company image when communicating with customers and to wear full uniform and appropriate PPE as required
Have a good knowledge of legislation and ensure compliance with Drivers Hours Regulations, health and safety regulations and all other Company policies and procedures
Monitor other operators activities and to provide appropriate reports
Flexibility to physically monitor route performance across all periods of operation. This would include weekends, early, late and split shifts as required
Carry out reliability checks of services to ensure the scheduled timetable is maintained and documented as per procedure
Attend external meetings with local community groups, local authorities, police, schools etc. as required
Identify causes of delay and suggest changes to infrastructure conditions (bus shelters, bus priority measures etc.) to create favourable conditions for our customers and for our services to operate in
Carry out Driver DQC, Drug and Alcohol and speed checks, as well as auditing driver equipment such as spit kits, safety equipment etc
What you\’ll need:
Relevant operational experience in scheduled service environment
Well developed verbal and written communication skills
Confidence in dealing with individuals at all levels of the organisation
Strong multi-tasking skills
Understanding of computer systems and good IT ability
Good computer literacy and competent in using ‘tablets\’ or ‘ipads\’
PCV (Cat D) license desirable
