National Energy System Operator (NESO) recognises the potential of bright and talented individuals, and we encourage you to join us as Great Britain’s energy system undergoes an ambitious, exciting, and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. Due to the rapid pace of change in the energy sector, we need to fundamentally reform the connections process to ensure that it delivers the best outcomes both for customers and electricity consumers. As a result, we are taking forward various reforms (short, medium and longer‑term) to address these challenges and have put our customers and stakeholders at the heart of this change. These changes and new processes will significantly speed up and improve the current arrangements that are no longer fit for purpose given the pace at which we need to transform our energy system. The Process Implementation Lead will be key in delivering these reforms.
Your role will involve translating policy into deliverable processes and tactical implementation of initiatives which will continuously improve the connections process for our customers in the short to medium term. You will be responsible for owning and managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to gather insight on complex connections issues. You will use this insight to lead on the creation and implementation of process change initiatives, ensuring delivery within the wider connections team. This role is based from our Warwick office, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities
- Lead tactical initiatives to optimise processes for the future connections reform window, ensuring effective implementation.
- Translate complex connections policy positions into practical and deliverable processes, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to implement the changes.
- Own, create and document detailed process maps and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to aid consistent delivery.
- Lead a virtual team across the connections reform program to deliver the reform objectives and embed continuous improvement.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as Transmission Owners, Distribution Network Operators, Ofgem, and DESNZ on relevant process changes.
- Champion continuous process improvement through identification and implementing enhancements to connections reform processes.
- Identify and elevate key areas of risk and concern on project delivery.
- Maintain awareness of current reform methodologies, applying this knowledge to enable compliant and effective delivery.
About You
- Strong background in process mapping and process improvement (essential).
- Knowledge of the connections process and reform (desirable, but not essential).
- Knowledge of change management principles (desirable, but not essential).
- Demonstrated ability to own internal and external relationships up to senior management level to achieve the required outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate complex information in a way non‑experts can understand.
- Ability to see the big picture and think strategically, identifying interactions opportunities to improve cross‑team working.
- Excellent time management skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple activities and issues to set deadlines, including excellent administrative skills.
- Process driven mindset, delivering high‑quality work under pressure, on time, whilst adhering to governance requirements.
What You’ll Get
A competitive salary between £62,000 - £67,000pa – dependent on experience and capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
