As a Contracts Performance Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in the successful development and management of Contracts Performance Monitoring for Balancing Services, enabling the NESO to deliver value to consumers. You will lead large-scale data analysis to drive contract performance monitoring activities and collaborate with various teams across the NESO to gather the necessary expertise for assessing and making decisions on performance monitoring actions. You will manage both internal and external stakeholders to collect information, review performance, methods, and deliver results. Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities are essential, as you will need to constructively challenge ideas, methods, and proposals to ensure the best value for consumers and business users.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop key criteria to support performance assessment.
  • Inform strategies through analysis and insight.
  • Make and recommend performance monitoring decisions based on data analysis.
  • Automate processes to increase efficiency and accuracy, ensuring consistent application of methods, standards and good practice.
  • Engage and lead internal/external stakeholder discussions through effective analysis, including producing and presenting dashboards and reports.
  • Develop technical and commercial guidance within our business.
  • Lead/Support development of internal and IT tools within Market Services as appropriate.

  • Has an appreciation for the energy industry; knowledge of power systems engineering can be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Has a good level of understanding of the interactions of various system requirements to demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of whole system operability.
  • Can learn quickly and work under pressure to tight deadlines.

What You’ll Get

A competitive salary of £54,000 - £64,000 dependent on experience and capability. Bonus based on company performance. 26 days annual leave as standard. A competitive contributory pension scheme with double match up to 12% company contribution. Annual enrolment to NESO Savings Plan: when you save between £20–£500 a month from take‑home pay, the company will pay a 50% matching contribution.
