National Energy System Operator (NESO) are looking for a System Operations Monitoring Team Specialist to work within its System Operations Monitoring and Health team (CNI Infrastructure). This role will be responsible for establishing the Operational setup for NESO’s Digital, Data & Technology Monitoring heartbeat in the NESO Electricity National Control Centre location at Wokingham. This role will define and birth the Operational processes and services, identify and build the operational team capability, and establish the physical working location for this new team.
This role is a hybrid role in line with NESO’s Flexible Working policy, and will be based at Wokingham. This role is designated as requiring a National Security Vetting (NSV) clearance (SC). The level of clearance associated with this role (SC) will usually need you to have been a resident in the UK for the last five years to apply. We would invite any applicants who do not currently meet this residency requirement to still express an interest in the role.
Key Accountabilities- The individual will be responsible for growing the capability for a 24-7 Operational System Operations Monitoring Team inauguration.
- This will establish the operational processes, ways of working and interactions between DD&T and Business teams.
- The individual will work across NESO functions to build out core modern Monitoring and Health capabilities, and maintain ITIL standards and practices in a highly available Infrastructure.
- The role will similarly interface with other 24-7 critical functions to establish collaborative ways of working, and grow the Health & Monitoring capability to provide a single glass pane view of the System Operations digital health.
- The individual will build a team, that will ensure Compliance-healthy posture and maintain appropriate processes and procedures to meet Operational and Cyber compliance (including CNI regulations, policies and standards; ISO, NIS-CAF readiness).
- This role will onboard the NESO Strategic Business services enabling BP3 (Balancing, Network Control) Services, working outwards within these teams to establish System Operations Monitoring Team as a key Partner and Collaborator in their end-to-end services.

About You- Strong understanding of Service Management practices and processes (ITIL; Change, Problem, Incident Management).
- Experience with Support and Monitoring teams, providing a service based on reliable delivery of SLA’s.
- Experience of supporting mission critical systems (P1, Platinum) services with a good knowledge of system technologies, networking, monitoring tools and processes.
- A strong operational background with experience in analytical thinking, problem solving, and decision making is required.
- Enthusiasm to build teams, and coach and mentor team members; collaborate across Digital and Business areas to deliver Business value.
- Technically astute with Infrastructure services, and enthusiasm to grow with cutting-edge modern technologies.
- Experience working in a multi-vendor environment, and working with ecosystem partners to manage Commercial.
