About the Role
Reporting directly to the Head of GWEND, you will work in a fast‑paced, multi‑faceted team structure that is at the core of NESO’s whole‑system responsibilities. The role is based in Warwick, offers hybrid working from office and home, and is open to full‑time, part‑time and flexible working arrangements.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide analytical support to the GWEND teams, including the Data Science team, the Hydrogen and Gas Network Analysis teams, and the Network Engineering team.
- Identify gaps in NESO’s knowledge and undertake high‑quality research and analysis of disparate energy system elements and of the energy transition.
- Cover topics such as biomethane and land use, the NTS exit capacity process, hydrogen blending, and gas storage economics.
- Distil research and analyses into digestible reports, recommendations, messages and presentation materials, translating complex information into easily understandable messaging for internal, external and non‑technical audiences.
- Forge strong, credible relationships with internal stakeholders across all business areas to encourage collaboration and a holistic approach to insight development while avoiding silo creation.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders, including political entities, institutions, regulatory bodies and industry players.
- Ensure compliance with the team’s programme management and governance structure.
- Collaborate with PMO, Customer, Data & Digital and other relevant teams to meet all GWEND reporting obligations – CRM, governance, risk – keeping all relevant risks under review.
About You
- Deep technical knowledge of one or more energy vectors, or general knowledge of the energy system, decarbonisation, sustainability, economics and/or politics.
- Understanding of the whole energy system with experience in at least one energy vector (gas and/or electricity networks, heat decarbonisation, hydrogen, transport decarbonisation, storage/flex, etc).
- Excellent and proven analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- Fastidious attention to detail and rigorous organisation.
- Strong and resilient time‑management and project‑management skills with a disciplined attitude to organisation.
- Proven experience building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in line with changing priorities.
- Curiosity to understand the bigger picture, the ‘so what’ and the possibilities.
- Experience as a management consultant – distinct advantage.
- Knowledge of PowerBI and/or Thinkcell – advantageous but not essential.
What You’ll Get
- Salary £50,000–£60,000, depending on experience and capability.
