About the Role
As a Data Scientist on the Energy Insights & Analysis (EIA) team, you will be integral to managing data, maintaining and delivering models that support the UK’s 2050 net‑zero emissions target.
You will model the future energy mix, work closely with stakeholders and technology partners, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the EIA team.
This role can be based in Wokingham, Warwick or Glasgow and offers hybrid working from office and home.
- Key Accountabilities
- Understand the needs of the business and develop solutions that support net‑zero targets.
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels to gather and understand requirements.
- Identify where existing models or processes need to adapt to reflect changing needs.
- Apply computer science, economics, statistics and data‑management skills to solve business problems.
- Collaborate with analysis teams and technology partners to deliver models, tools and process improvements.
- Mentor and guide others on model development and best practices (higher level).
- Drive coordinated change in modelling, quality assurance and technology deployment (higher level).
- Lead cross‑departmental projects, improving accuracy, transparency and turnaround time (higher level).
About You
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Advanced programming skills in Python, Excel and SQL.
- Experience building and evaluating predictive models.
- Inquisitive mindset with ability to connect disparate pieces of information.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
- Team‑orientated, able to drive delivery with diverse groups.
- Project management and planning skills to meet activities, deliverables and deadlines.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as MS Azure or Palantir Foundry (desirable).
- Interest and background in energy decarbonisation (desirable).

- Competitive salary of £61,000 – £72,000, depending on experience and capability.
