You will be based within the Customer Connections Department at NESO. This team manages the connection of generation and demand to Great Britain’s high voltage electricity network. You’ll be at the forefront of helping Great Britain transition towards a clean power future that can deliver our climate change goals.
You will be a key member of a team responsible for designing strategic improvements to the new and reformed end to end process for managing connections. You will be responsible for developing (and supporting the implementation of) solutions to a range of different challenges within a specific part of the connections process. You will work collaboratively with other teams across NESO and with industry, Ofgem and Government.
This role can be based from Wokingham, Warwick, Glasgow, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.
Key Accountabilities:- Research, develop, engage upon, gain approval for and support the implementation of solutions to a range of different challenges within a specific part of the reformed connections arrangements.
- Work collaboratively with others within NESO to ensure that your proposals are robust, well justified and align with wider NESO strategy and policy and take appropriate account of data, technology, regulatory and commercial considerations, and organisational capability.
- Manage your work in an organised and efficient way, establishing key milestones and deliverables and reporting regularly against these to ensure that your work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Engage on your proposals with key internal and external stakeholders (including DESNZ, Ofgem, Transmission Owners and Distribution Network Owners), ensuring that relevant information and your proposals are presented and explained clearly and concisely.
- Deliver communication and engagement strategies to aim to set best practice across the team, including managing customer queries.
- Develop yourself to drive performance and to create a strong career path plan.
- Ensure awareness of political, economic, and social developments which may impact the Connections Team, and brief others on these, where applicable.
- Support the Connections Design Team Manager in developing and delivering strategy for the overall team to promote a 'One Team' spirit and enhance the wellbeing of the team.
