Overview
You will be part of a small team that support law enforcement major crime investigations. The role requires the ability to multi-task and prioritise due to time-critical activities. The role uses a wide range of knowledge and experience around policies, good practice and shared learning from partner agencies and law enforcement, delivered in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the investigation of major and complex crime through targeted research of MCIS case management systems to inform decision making and sharing of best practice.
- Develop extensive knowledge of policies,NPCC guidance, relevant law enforcement and government documentation to deliver consistent, up-to-date information to assist investigators.
- Be the first point of contact for all enquiries into MCIS; record, categorise and triage requests for support via the case management system, identifying the most appropriate team to support the enquiry.
- Respond to queries from Police Officers in a timely fashion; monitor email and telephone queries, provide advice and escalate if required.
- Act as a Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for MCIS; support team projects as the departmental SPoC.
- Build working relationships with law enforcement agencies and internal and external partners; establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience in the quality assurance of record management to mitigate against errors and duplicate recording; maintain accurate and up-to-date records for management information purposes.
- Use IT systems to record and conduct effective administrative tasking around data compliance in line with policy (CPIA obligations).
Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience in supporting criminal investigations and knowledge of MCIS or similar case management systems is desirable.
- Strong research skills; ability to capture and interpret information from a wide range of sources.
- Ability to prioritise workload and deliver high-quality results within tight timescales.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet use; good written and verbal communication skills.
- IT skills, data analysis, time management, teamwork, relationship management and customer service abilities; understanding of data protection and CPIA obligations.
- Security clearance requirements: criminal record check and baseline security standards; UK nationality or eligible status as defined for civil service roles.
