About the Role
Information about the Command
The role of Intelligence is to develop the right operations, which target and disrupt - by the most effective means - the offenders who seek to cause the highest harm to the UK.
A diverse directorate with a wide variety of unique functions and specialist skillsets in our ranks, some of which we deliver as the national provider for the wider Serious Organised Crime (SOC) system. From our niche technical capabilities, to our overseas network of International Liaison Officers (ILO) and our Tasking teams, there are many component parts which contribute to the efforts of the directorate and the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Information about the Business Area
The National Intelligence Hub (NIH) is responsible for delivering tactical intelligence and strategic assessment for the NCA and Serious Organised Crime (SOC) system, in order to understand and articulate the threat from SOC and generate the most impactful opportunities for disruption and reduction of that threat. Working closely with other departments, the NIH is at the heart of the NCA, analysing and exploiting all source intelligence to deliver opportunities which drive NCA and partner activity. The NIH continually develops the intelligence picture of SOC that impacts on the UK, so we can flex law enforcement’s collective resources against changing threats.
Role Summary: Serious and organised crime (SOC) is estimated at costing the UK economy over £37 billion every year. We collect, record and enhance intelligence to build a picture of that SOC, sharing this with partners in the UK and abroad. Then, through the exploitation of intelligence, we flex law enforcement’s collective resources against these dynamic threats. We are continuously looking for new opportunities to enhance traditional capabilities to increase the quantity and quality of available intelligence and maximise its potential for exploitation.
Please Note: Security Vetting requirements - To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the roles. Majority of the roles will also require you to achieve DV / DV STRAP clearance within the first 12 months in post, depending upon the team they are allocated to. Applicants must be willing to undergo DV clearance and STRAP induction and be full UK Nationals. Dual Nationals, of whom one component is British, may be considered on a case by case basis. Any candidate who does not achieve DV or DV STRAP in post will be found a suitable alternative role at the same grade.
Please note : Candidates applying to Belfast Location will ONLY be appointed to the Data Fusion Team.
Role Description
The National Intelligence Hub (NIH) delivers tactical intelligence and strategic assessments for the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the wider Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) system. By analysing and exploiting intelligence from a range of sources, the NIH develops the intelligence picture of SOC affecting the UK and identifies opportunities to disrupt and reduce criminal threats.
The NIH works closely with UK and international law enforcement, intelligence and policy partners to support operational activity against the highest-harm SOC threats.
Within the NIH are several National Targeting Centres (NTCs). This campaign is focused on Economic Crime.
Please see document attached 'ECL Teams' for further information about the Economic Crime teams.
