The Net Zero Carbon (NZC) Fundraising Administrator will play a vital role in supporting the effective running of the NZC Fundraising team and excellent delivery of the varied portfolio of grants to parishes and dioceses that the NZC Fundraising team offers - principally supporting the Give to Go Green matched funding grant for parishes, and also providing administration for the Regional Fundraising Officer, Accelerator Fund and Community Energy Pilot grants.
The postholder will be the first point of contact for applicants and grantees, provide excellent administrative support for grant making, and personalised customer service for successful Give to Go Green parishes for their matched fundraising campaigns.
They will also support the wider NZC Fundraising team across events, training and resources.
The role will report to the Head of Net Zero Carbon Fundraising and maintain strong lines of communication with the Give to Go Green Project Manager and other Net Zero Carbon Fundraising team members in order to develop, support, and maintain robust administrative and operations processes across all the team’s work streams.
This is a fixed-term role until 31 December 2028 and is anticipated to continue beyond this date, subject to funding being secured.
Internal interviews will be held on 7th September; the external interview date is TBC.
Responsibilities
Supporting Excellent Grant Making Operations
The majority of the role’s grant making administration will be to support Give to Go Green.
- Undertake grant application checks as requested by the Grant Manager. These could include checking the correct documents have been submitted (and requesting them if not) and checking the applicants’ faculty and reserves status.
- Prepare grant panel documentation required by the Grant Manager.
- Take minutes of grants panel meetings, ensuring accurate and clear records are kept of decision outcomes.
- Prepare and issue grant outcome letters and grant agreements.
- Set up and process grant payment requests in line with the terms of grantees’ grant agreements, liaising with Finance Department colleagues to ensure timely payment.
- Maintain accurate grant filing systems on Sharepoint and the Grant Management System.
- Maintain and update Give to Go Green tracking spreadsheets and provide data as requested by the Head of NZC Fundraising and Give to Go Green Project Manager.
Give to Go Green Customer Support
- Manage the Give to Go Green inbox, responding to parish queries on applications in a timely manner and escalating complex enquiries where relevant.
- Provide customer service support for successful parishes on their matched fundraising campaigns, including supporting parishes to onboard with Give A Little and their digital fundraising.
- Where parishes are unable to use the Grant Management System, submit applications on behalf of these parishes manually.
Fundraising Administration
- Manage the Net Zero Carbon Fundraising inbox and be the first point of call for responding to diocesan and parish queries about net zero carbon fundraising.
- Support event management for philanthropy events.
- Provide administrative support for training events, webinars and conferences.
- Maintain and develop national fundraising resources for net zero carbon fundraising, in collaboration with colleagues in the Giving Directorate.

Provide administration for Net Zero Carbon fundraising workstream by organising internal and external meetings.

Essential
Knowledge/Experience

Substantial hands-on administrative experience, ideally in a grant-making environment or on a high-profile programme involving multiple stakeholders.

Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining effective administrative systems and processes.

Experience of building excellent relationships and communicating effectively with staff and external stakeholders at all levels including volunteers.
- Highly IT literate with substantial hands-on experience of Microsoft applications and systems that manage data.
- Sympathetic understanding of the aims of the Church of England’s Net Zero Carbon Programme, as described in the Routemap to Net Zero Carbon.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders, including dioceses and parish volunteers, in person, in writing and online.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete administrative tasks accurately.
- Good numeracy skills as part of this role will require updating data dashboards.
- Extremely well organised with the ability to prioritise a varied workload, remain calm under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Very strong self-motivator as the job requires remote working.
- Ability to work collaboratively across a diverse and geographically dispersed organisation.
- Ability to travel, on occasion, for work purposes across England.
