Could you be the manager the people at Apple House have told us they want? They want someone who is kind, approachable and reliable; who listens, understands what matters to them, respects their choices and takes action when something is important.

At Apple House, the people who live here help shape how their home is led. We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager who will be visible, build trusted relationships and ensure every person is supported to live a meaningful life on their own terms.

Welcome to Apple House. Apple House is home to four people with their own personalities, routines, interests and aspirations. The successful manager will take time to know each person well and understand what good support means to them.

  • Choice and familiar routines: One person enjoys community walks, television and established routines that help him feel comfortable and secure.
  • Independence and trusted relationships: One person values making her own choices, helping around the home, cooking, shopping and being supported by people she knows and trusts.
  • Community, friendships and purpose: One person enjoys keeping busy, attending yoga and the gym, visiting local places and maintaining friendships in his community.
  • Home, personal space and being heard: One person values her own space, favourite programmes and having her room and belongings arranged in the way she chooses.

Your role is to make sure each person continues to have choice, control, meaningful relationships and opportunities to enjoy the life that matters to them.

The manager people have asked for:

  • Be visible, approachable and comfortable spending time with the people who live at Apple House.
  • Listen carefully, communicate in ways each person understands and follow through on what people tell you.
  • Respect individual choices, preferences, routines, relationships and personal space.
  • Champion independence while ensuring the right support is available when needed.
  • Know each person well, including what helps them feel safe, settled, confident and involved.
  • Create a culture where kindness, dignity, respect and person-centred practice are non-negotiable.
  • Lead colleagues by example and act promptly when standards or experiences need to improve.
  • Help people maintain friendships, access their community, enjoy their interests and pursue personal goals.

The Registered Manager role:

  • Ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of the people supported and colleagues.
  • Lead high-quality, person-centred support in line with legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong oversight of quality, governance, training compliance, staffing and service operations.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, making good practice visible and achievable.
  • Build effective relationships with families, advocates, health and social care professionals, commissioners and regulators.
  • Ensure support plans, daily records and written communications are accurate, respectful and outcome-focused.
  • Lead assessments and transitions so new people are welcomed safely and supported to achieve their potential.
  • Maintain registration with the Care Quality Commission and promote continuous improvement.

About you: You will be an established social care leader who can balance operational oversight with genuine, relationship-based leadership. You will bring:

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health support needs and/or complex needs.
  • Leadership experience and a strong understanding of quality, governance and safeguarding.
  • A Level 4 or 5 qualification in Health and Social Care, or relevant experience with a commitment to achieving the qualification.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
  • The confidence to lead across a seven-day service, including appropriate flexibility and participation in the on-call rota.
  • Above all, strong values and a relentless commitment to helping people live their best lives.

What we offer:

  • 33 days annual leave inclusive of bank and public holidays.
  • Life assurance three times your annual salary.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Access to additional health support.
  • Leadership development programmes to support your career.
  • Professional qualifications.
  • Unlimited access to learning opportunities.
  • Wellbeing support including support through our health and wellbeing platform.
  • Greater control and flexibility over your finances.
  • A values-led role.
  • The opportunity to make a visible difference every day.
