We are currently recruiting for an experienced Service Manager, who has previously managed multiped sites, to join our team at Affinity Supporting People North Limited – Morecambe.
Affinity Supporting People North Limited is part of National Care Group.
We provide supported living services for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, mental health and challenging behaviours.
Our dedicated team works closely with those we support to deliver person-centred care, empowering everyone to reach their goals and fulfil their aspirations.

- Individual Responsibilities
- Contribute to an individual’s needs assessment with the person, their families’ carers, or other important people in their lives.
- Devise, implement and review support plans with individuals focusing on safe and achievable outcomes and goals ensuring the service users wishes are reflected in these.
- Assess and develop outcome focused risk management plans.
- Perform audits of support plans, health action plans, risk assessments and management plans, financial management systems where a team leader/care manager is responsible for the upkeep of these documents.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals involved in an individual’s care/support.
- Adhere to all the companies’ policies and procedures to ensure safe, effective and quality support is always delivered and lead by example.
- Effectively manage your own time.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures, carry out the relevant risk assessments or monitor and audit those in place.
Communicate and act on any concerns immediately and report on where necessary.
- To carry out additional duties outlined by your line manager.
- Fully understand and demonstrate your role within the Safeguarding Adults Strategy.
- Contribute to policy and service development within the company.
- Be a point of contact for all service users and their families and staff within your network and keep the person at the centre of everything you do.
- Address concerns in a timely manner and carry out thorough investigations where necessary.
- Be involved and contribute to management meetings, daily office functions and represent the company, when needed, in the public/professional domain.
- Practice in the framework of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and in line with the principles of the Depravation of Liberties Safeguards.
- Commitment to personal professional development within your role.
- Planning and organising meetings and communicating on day-to-day issues with your manager.
- Be involved in and leading in problem solving with the team around a person.
- Delegate responsibility, in your absence, to other team members or bring potential gaps in management to the Registered Manager.
- Ensuring information held by the company about individual service users is kept securely and updated regularly in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
- Liaising with other professionals involved with individual and sharing relevant information to staff teams and managers where necessary.
- Staffing Responsibilities
- Offer direction and advice on everyday matters to the support team around an individual.
- Support staff to work within boundaries of their role and capabilities.
- Be involved in fact finding and information gathering where complaints or concerns have been raised.
- Plan and deliver staff appraisals and supervisions other HR related tasks and where necessary, be part of the disciplinary process.
- Carry out relevant risk assessments regarding health and safety in the workplace, specifically lone working, environmental hazards, fire procedures and moving and handling.
- Staff Development
- Lead the team in reviewing its performance on an ongoing basis and to work with team members to develop their individual skills and ambitions.
- Provide supervision to several people including Team leaders and Support Workers.
- Discuss with registered manager or operations director the training needs of the team and source external training where applicable.
- Provide support to new staff during their probationary / Induction period.
- Be actively involved in mentoring or training staff either in a structured session or whilst working alongside them.
- Provide support and direction to trainee’s on placement i. e. students, apprentices, volunteers or people on work experience.
- Demonstrate and lead the team to ensure that they understand and work within the values of the Services.
- Be consistent in your approach to the management of a team and the service.
