We are currently recruiting for a Senior Support Worker to join our team at Apple House, Bournemouth.

The role of a National Care Group Senior Support Worker

As a Senior Support Worker, you will promote and ensure that the company vision of person‑centred support is implemented whilst maintaining an individual’s potential and independence. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the senior management to assess people we support needs, with a Person‑Centred Framework and the Supporting People Initiative.
  • Facilitate and support the people we support to integrate within their local community.
  • Identify training needs of other staff and coordinate training initiatives in consultation with the Registered Manager.
  • Work with people we support to initiate and develop new ideas and methods regarding the quality of service delivery in conjunction with other colleagues.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes by participating in discussions, training sessions and workshops when required.
  • Have a full understanding of Care Standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional conduct and morale by encouraging and motivating staff morale by personal example, and appearance.
  • Assist management with the co‑ordination, supervision and monitoring of staff work and practices.
  • Co‑ordinate the arrangements of resident appointments.
  • Assist management to organise regular (monthly) House meetings.
  • Administer medications when required, in line with prescription guidelines.

What qualities do you need to be a great Senior Support Worker?

  • Minimum Level 3 in Health and Social Care QCF/NVQ.
  • Experience of leading, supervising and motivating a team.
  • A caring attitude, with a passion for supporting others and a motivation to see them achieve goals.
  • A team player, able to work effectively with other colleagues.
  • Resilience to keep going at difficult times and the confidence to ask for support if needed.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
