The National Bank of the Virgin Islands (“the Bank”) is seeking a qualified person to fill the following full-time position:

Job Summary:

Purpose of the Job:

The Operations Support Officer I provides foundational administrative and operational support in the execution of the Bank’s projects. The role assists in meeting daily targets and ensuring project deliverables are met on schedule and within budget. All duties and responsibilities must be performed in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures and in compliance with the laws and regulatory requirements of the Virgin Islands, while supporting the Bank’s digital transformation and operational efficiency objectives.

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Management, or a closely related field.

Knowlegde, Skills and Abilities:

  • Project Support: Strong organisational skills, effective time management, process-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage own time.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, provide updates, and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders.
  • Teamwork and Stakeholder Support: Ability to work collaboratively across departments and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Digital Fluency: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to use project management software.
  • Analytical Skills: Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, with attention to detail and the capacity to identify risks, issues, and practical solutions.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Basic understanding of the legal and regulatory standards established by the Virgin Islands, including the Labour Code, 2010.
  • Work Management: Responsible, proactive, and capable of working under pressure while managing multiple tasks.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting Project Managers or working within an operational project environment.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Project Execution & Workflow Management

  • Project Support: Actively participates in project execution by completing assigned daily, weekly, or monthly targets within specified timeframes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Strategic Alignment Support: Assists the dedicated Project Management Team (PMT) with implementing the Bank’s strategic initiatives.
  • Deliverable Management: Ensures project deliverables are aligned with the established goals and objectives requested by Management.
  • Progress Reporting: Assists in preparing monthly progress reports, proactively identifying and escalating issues to the Operations Support Officer II.
  • Departmental Coverage: Substitutes, as necessary, for absent officers within the Operations Department to ensure continuity of service.

Operational Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • First Line of Defence (1LoD): Operates as a First Line of Defence within the Operations Department, ensuring all project tasks and daily activities adhere to approved procedures, internal controls, and the BVI AML/CFT Code of Practice and the Regulatory Code, 2009 (as amended).
  • Data Privacy Adherence: Handles all project data and customer information in strict adherence with the Bank’s approved policies and the BVI Data Protection Act, 2021.
    Digital Transformation & Process Optimisation
  • Process Automation: Supports the automation of manual operational processes and the integration of modern project management software to streamline workflows.
  • Digital Banking Support: Supports the Bank’s migration to digital channels by executing project tasks that enhance digital service delivery and usability.
    Other Duties
  • Performs any other related duties, assignments, or special projects as required or assigned to support the evolving needs of the Compliance and Risk Department.
