About the job:

NBCFM is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of National Bank of Canada (“NBC”). The main strategic purpose of NBCFM is to enable the NBC Group (“NBC Group,” meaning National Bank of Canada and all its subsidiaries) to grow and diversify its presence in Europe while allowing for a natural development of its existing business relationships and the establishment of new ones in the European markets.

NBC has over 150 years of history and is currently the 6th largest Canadian bank. Through its branch and subsidiary network, NBC can service clients throughout North America and Europe. NBC’s strategy is to further develop NBCFM as its hub for trading and financial services in Europe.

Summary:

NBCFM are seeking an HR Generalist/ HR Business Partner to provide support to NBC’s London, Paris and Hong Kong offices under direct supervision and support from the Senior HR team located in Dublin. The HR Generalist/ HR Business Partner will be liaising with employees in NBC’s International offices to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of all HR-related activities.

The HR Generalist/ HRBP will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong communication skills to build professional relationships and adaptability to various work styles across international entities.

Main Responsibilities:

All responsibilities outlined below will apply to both the London and Paris entities.

Employee Management and benefits:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related inquiries (benefits, salary, absences, HR systems, performance process, employee relations, etc.).
  • Benchmark French local benefits, manage expats benefits specific to France (Impatriation tax regime, Pension Opt out, etc) and liaise with external consultants when necessary.
  • Oversee the complete employee life cycle from onboarding to offboarding to ensure a consistent candidate/new hire experience.
  • Maintain all HR systems up to date daily with employee’s information.
  • Monitor and report on the absence management process including the mandatory annual leave policy, be the first point of contact for statutory leave queries.
  • Oversee the management of the centralised HR inbox and strive for timely response times to employee queries.

Recruitment:

  • Lead out on recruitment process from sourcing to offer stage and provide necessary support to hiring managers.
  • Relationship management with chosen recruitment partners, always being first point of contact for all agency recruitment.

Payroll/Compensation and Administration:

  • Process employee’s monthly payroll ensuring compliance with the tax authorities within the various international jurisdictions.
  • Assist with the preparation of various tax returns related to employee payroll or benefits.
  • Assist Senior Management team in the year-end processes surrounding bonuses and deferred compensation.
  • Provide support during the annual review of the UK Remuneration Policy Statement in collaboration with NBC’s compensation team.
  • Manage the employee benefits schemes in the various jurisdictions and address employee queries that may arise.
  • Provide administration of the pension schemes liaising with the pension providers, administrators, and external auditors.
  • Co-ordinate and action information requests from managers, benefit providers and external vendors.

General:

  • Educate and train employees on the various elements of the HR Systems (Employee Zone, Timescape), and train Management on HR processes.
  • Responsible for animating the London entity by issuing monthly HR newsletters.
  • Strive to continuously improve and develop the employee experience through identifying learning and development, recognition and wellbeing opportunities that will benefit our employees.
  • Assist with the implementation of HR initiatives, projects, and monthly reporting when necessary.
  • Updating and enhancing all HR documented policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and implement regulatory changes to HR activities when applicable.
  • Ensure the international offices are in full compliance with immigration requirements.
  • Assist the NBCFMA Hong Kong on ad-hoc queries.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Proven experience in HR operations within an international company based in France.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of French employment law.
  • Understanding for both benefits for local employees and expatriates in France.
  • Experience with French payroll (preferred not desired).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills essential to engage with stakeholders across all levels at NBC Group.
  • A proactive and innovative approach, with the ability to work independently.
  • Creative and energetic with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for business.
  • Fluent English and French required.
