We are looking for a highly analytical and proactive Analyst/Associate to join our Financial Resource Management team in London. This role sits at the heart of our Capital Markets activities, supporting the optimisation of structures and processes under capital, liquidity, regulatory and operational tax constraints.

A key focus of the role will be supporting senior experts on international and operational tax matters across multiple jurisdictions, including withholding tax, corporate actions, financial transaction taxes (FTT), stamp duties, capital gains taxes, tax reclaims and related tax documentation.

The successful candidate will work across international markets and engage with custodians, sub-custodians and other external partners to understand and manage tax requirements arising from cross-border Capital Markets activities.

About the Role

Join a high-impact team in Capital Markets where financial strategy meets innovation. As an Analyst or Associate in the Financial Resource Management team, you’ll play a key role in optimising Capital Markets structures and processes under capital, liquidity, regulatory and operational tax constraints.

A significant focus of the position will be international tax within a Capital Markets, securities and custody environment. You will support the team’s senior experts in analysing and optimising withholding tax processes related to dividends and corporate actions, financial transaction taxes, stamp duties and capital gains taxes.

You will also support tax reclaim activities, international tax documentation, reporting requirements and the assessment of tax requirements associated with operations across multiple jurisdictions and custodians.

You’ll work closely with Global Finance and Global Equity business lines, as well as Wealth Management areas when required. Collaboration with the Corporate Tax Advisory team, international offices, custodians, sub-custodians, triparty agents and other external partners will be central to your success.

What You’ll Do

  • Map, assess and maintain international tax documentation requirements with the National Bank Group’s custodians, sub-custodians and triparty agents.
  • Assess tax documentation and operational requirements and actively collaborate on the onboarding of new international jurisdictions and markets, including working with custodians, sub-custodians, triparty agents and, where applicable, within bilateral relationship arrangements.
  • Support the assessment and optimisation of withholding tax processes, including those relating to dividends and corporate actions across different jurisdictions.
  • Support tax reclaim activities and associated documentation requirements across international markets.
  • Identify and help mitigate international and operational tax risks relating to withholding tax, financial transaction taxes (FTT), stamp duties, capital gains taxes and associated reporting obligations.
  • Analyse tax requirements affecting cross-border securities and Capital Markets activities and support the implementation of appropriate operational processes.
  • Monitor and assess developments in international tax requirements that may have an impact on Capital Markets activities, custody arrangements or operational processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in international operational tax for the New Products and Activities team, Operations and selected business sectors.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Tax Advisory team and relevant international offices on tax-related matters and initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal business lines and external partners to help ensure tax requirements are appropriately understood and incorporated into operational processes.
  • Actively participate in business, tax and regulatory initiatives.

Your Team

The Financial Resource Management team partners closely with Capital Markets traders and Business Heads to advise on the optimal allocation of financial resources.

The team oversees business development and evaluates capital, liquidity, regulatory and tax operations processes for efficiency. It also leads critical regulatory projects impacting Capital Markets and, when needed, Wealth Management.

You will report to the Managing Director, Financial Resource Management.

The team values collaboration, agility and continuous improvement in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
