The National Army Museum’s (NAM’s) mission is to tell the story of Our Army and the people who have served in it; to inspire, engage and educate, through our World Class Museum and Collections. Through our galleries and innovative exhibitions and public programme, the public can explore what it’s like to be a soldier, why we fought in conflicts – past and present, and discover the impact the Army has had on our society.

We are seeking to appoint new members to NAM Council (Trustees) experienced within the fields of major redevelopment/project management and development fundraising.

Key responsibilities of Council are to:

  • develop the overall Mission and Strategy with the Directorate;
  • oversee operational and financial performance;
  • provide guidance to the Directorate;
  • maintain effective board performance.

Members of Council are appointed for a three-year term, normally extended by a second three-year term to six years, and are not remunerated (reasonable expenses will be paid). There are a minimum of four meetings a year but preparation time, service on sub-committees and other Council duties can considerably increase this time commitment. Meetings are normally held at the NAM Chelsea in London.
