We are seeking a talented individual to join our Impact team at Marsh (Mercer). This role will ideally be based in London, although consideration will be given to candidates based in Manchester or Birmingham. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
You will join a highly creative employee communications agency within Mercer known as Impact. This role will focus on crafting and executing impactful communications for a broad range of trustee and corporate clients, covering all aspects of member engagement including guiding members through complex pension change exercises. This is an opportunity to be part of a fast‑growing team that has been named a 'big bet' for the UK organisation.
Responsibilities
- Client Relationship and Business Development: Build and maintain long‑term strategic relationships with clients and prospects, understanding their evolving needs and identifying opportunities for expanded services. Drive individual sales targets (~£500k annually) through proactive business development activities, including proposal development, pitches, and cross‑LOB collaboration. Support and mentor colleagues in developing a business development mindset and skills. Contribute to market insights and product development initiatives to enhance the Impact team's communication offerings.
- Strategic Communication Leadership: Lead the development and execution of innovative, multi‑channel communication strategies for complex client initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Serve as a trusted adviser to senior client stakeholders, providing expert guidance on communication approaches and best practices. Oversee the creation, review, and quality control of all communication collateral, including letters, digital content, presentations, and videos, ensuring high standards and consistency. Provide constructive feedback and coaching to junior team members on communication deliverables and approaches.
- Project and Service Delivery Management: Manage multiple large and complex communication projects (typically >£150k), ensuring successful delivery on time, within scope, and budget. Proactively identify and manage project risks, dependencies, and resource allocation to optimise project outcomes and profitability. Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution. Monitor project financials, including utilisation and profitability, and report progress to leadership.
- People Leadership and Development: Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability. Participate in recruitment and performance management activities as required. Promote an inclusive and collaborative team environment that encourages innovation and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree or equivalent.
- Significant experience in pension communications or consulting, with a track record of managing complex projects and client relationships.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences including senior leadership.
- Proven project management expertise, including financial acumen to manage budgets and profitability.
- Demonstrated business development skills with a proactive approach to sales and client growth.
- Ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain trusted client and internal relationships.

- Familiarity with Mercer's Lines of Business and collaborative working across teams is advantageous.
