Oliver Wyman is a global leader in management consulting, with offices in more than 70 cities across 30 countries. The Actuarial Practice provides customised actuarial services and strategic insight to help clients exceed their business objectives.
This role requires working closely with actuarial teams across Europe and potentially other regions. You will independently analyse complex problems and develop innovative solutions for clients within the P&C market. Projects span capital modelling, internal model design, risk management, and emerging areas such as climate risk, AI transformation, and data visualisation.
Key responsibilities:- Support internal model design, implementation, validation and documentation for capital and financial reporting.
- Assist with Internal Model Approval Process (IMAP) applications and major model changes across various regulatory regimes, including Lloyd’s and UK & European carriers.
- Contribute to advanced predictive modelling, data analytics, and visualisation initiatives for insurers.
- Conduct reserve reviews, methodology reviews, and reserve implementations.
- Develop and maintain intellectual capital through data science techniques and cutting‑edge quantitative finance methodologies.
- Support mergers and acquisitions due diligence, including model build and projected earnings analysis.
- Participate in risk management activities: validation, risk appetite reviews, oversight, and climate risk practice.
- Handle actuarial model conversions and optimisations (reserving, pricing, capital).
- Prepare client and industry presentations, surveys, case studies; contribute to marketing support and business development including proposals and tenders.
- Collaborate with other business lines within the Marsh group to build integrated solutions for clients.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant Property & Casualty actuarial experience, especially capital modelling.
- FIA or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Knowledge of finance and risk management topics, including Solvency II internal models, ORSA and IFRS 17.
- Strong modelling skills with practical experience in at least one coding language (e.g., R, Python).
- Knowledge of Lloyd’s of London Capital Requirements.
- Strong understanding of the insurance industry and its challenges.
- Highly motivated; able to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication in both formal and informal settings.
- Self‑starter with initiative and ability to take the lead where appropriate.
