Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Location: Please note that whilst we are happy to offer this role on a remote basis, there will be travel required to the North of England (Stockport) for monthly off-sites and infrequent travel to Kettering (annual conference, new employee welcome).

Working pattern: Remote/Hybrid (some office attendance required)

The purpose of the role:

As EL/PL/OL Solicitor you will be responsible for all Fast Track EL/PL/OL cases that drop out of the MOJ portal, assessing liability and taking a pro-active approach to litigation where necessary. You will be responsible for managing the process efficiently, whilst securing the maximum win for both the consumer and the business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Progress pre-issue claims into litigation as quickly as possible, drawing on your advanced technical knowledge
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure a smooth handover for the client
  • Draft particulars of claim and other case documentation professionally and accurately
  • Understand the fast-track claims process and identify opportunities to maximise revenue where appropriate
  • Meet strict court deadlines
  • Apply strong working knowledge of CPR rules and relevant case law
  • Attend conferences, hearings and case management conferences (CMCs) as required
  • Instruct Counsel or experts where needed
  • Support other teams and act as a referral point for complex queries
  • Make file closure decisions, ensuring files are closed appropriately and on time
  • Personalise every client interaction with empathy and understanding
  • Listen to and assess each client's case, supporting them through the later stages of their claim
  • Maintain client engagement by providing clear, informed advice
  • Keep your market knowledge current so your skills stay relevant

What you'll bring:

  • Experience of handling non-portal claims from drop out to litigation to settlement
  • Ability to handle a mixed caseload of denied and admitted claims
  • Proven ability to handle own caseload, adhering to strict SLAs
  • Experience of managing risk to make commercially sound decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting information to make decisions
  • Strong IT competence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong track record of billing
