Role Overview: The Compliance Officer for Contractor Members plays a pivotal role in assessing the level of compliance to NASC requirements from application for membership through to the ongoing compliance for existing members. Each NASC member is required to have a site audit every 2 years and a desktop audit in the intervening year. The role of the compliance officer is to assess members' adherence to all NASC policies and complete a full audit of premises and a detailed audit report to allow the NASC to make an informed decision regarding continued membership for each member. The role is vital to the NASC in safeguarding its high standards for membership and impartial reporting is critical to ensure we consistently strive for excellence and equality for all our members.
Key Responsibilities
- Contractor Membership Auditing
- Contact new applicants and existing members to arrange the assessments dates within the month required.
- Give guidance to new applicants about what is required to be uploaded for the Desktop audit.
- During the site audits, gather sufficient information to verify compliance or non-compliance with requirements.
- Review any findings and grade as major or minor findings based on the severity of the issue (as per the NASC Audit Procedures Policy).
- Write the audit report and classify the findings within 48 hours of completing the report and make the outcome recommendation.
- If assessments are based on a Multi-site with the Head Office in your area, correlate all depot & site reports into one report.
- Book re-audits once the findings have been confirmed.
- Conduct unannounced site audits as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a high-level Desktop audit process for Contractor Members.
- Supplier Membership Auditing
- Assist in the development and implementation of a high-level Desktop audit process for Supplier Members.
- Assist with the review of the Risk Profiling of Supplier Members based outside the UK.
Key Skills
- Professional communication skills when dealing with all levels within an organisation.
- Ability to work alone.
- Able to travel nationwide where required.
- Knowledge of NASC Specifications and Standards.
- Ability to remain impartial and unbiased during audits.
Essentials
- Be registered as an Advance Scaffolding Inspector and have at least five years practical scaffolding experience.
- Have an extended safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH general certificate or Safety Diploma or Degree.
- Have a valid driver's license.
Desirable
- Excellent listening and observation skills.
- Have good working knowledge of SSIP.
- Have Internal Auditing certification.
