Be the finance expert everyone turns to in a stand-alone position that’s entirely yours to shape. No one’s stepping on your toes, and you’ll have full control over how the bookkeeping function runs. Whether you need time for family, personal projects, or simply some breathing space, this part-time setup accommodates your life. You’ll also have the opportunity to work closely with a hands-on MD and contribute to office management projects, keeping things varied. There’s built-in cover with the part-time HR/Payroll person, so if you need time off, you won’t be left hanging and vice versa.
What you’ll do
- Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll provide accurate finance and admin support to a business with around £5m in turnover.
- You’ll take ownership of key financial processes and shape them with your ideas.
- Your day-to-day will include:
- Handling purchase and sales ledger transactions, including credit control
- Carrying out bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations, including journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
- Managing fixed assets
- Overseeing month-end and year-end close activities
- Completing quarterly VAT returns
- Covering weekly/monthly payroll processing when needed
- Monthly Management Accounts/Variance analysis
What you’ll need
- AAT qualified or equivalent experience.
- Solid experience in preparing accounts to Trial Balance; beyond this is a bonus.
- Strong experience with Sage 50 Accounts and Payroll, or similar
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
