Summary of role:
We are seeking a Cell Lead for night shift, responsible for delivery of company objectives in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) through the rigorous application of the Nasmyth Operating Model (NOM). To support achievement of this, the Cell Lead role is targeted to be c.30% providing leadership to team members and c.70% operating equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the disciplined execution of Daily Management (i.e. SQCDP process) at Tier 1 (Cell).
- Take ownership when having to make difficult decisions linked to the cell.
- Hold team members accountable for adhering to business standards and enabling their team to meet their targets.
- Leading and developing their team to understand the context, mechanics, and delivery SQCDP targets to meet customer and stakeholder commitments.
- Display activist leadership in Problem Solving using a ‘Go to Gemba’ approach, with the ambition that 98% of issues can be solved within the cell team itself.
- Exemplify a safety-first mindset ensuring the company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) framework, standard and policies are adhered to.
- Contributing to the site HSE culture of improving the working environment through maintaining a safe and organised working area (5S).
- Ensure Team Members follow manufacturing methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain product conformance and traceability.
- Ensure Team Members perform component quality checks using calibrated measuring equipment.
- Manage the allocated business unit financial budget.
- Ensure assets are maintained with a “brand new forever” mindset through the deployment and adherence to the site Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system.
- Daily achievement of the Cell Production Plan.
- Collaboration with colleagues in other departments to support achievement of Customer and Company targets, objectives, and goals.
- Development of first-class Team Members who are readily able to progress to become a future Cell Leader or take other roles in the business.
- Be open, honest, and timely when appraising and managing individuals’ performance whilst supporting and coaching the closure of performance gaps.
- Working as part of a team.
Role Requirements:
- Motivated by the prospect of Leading the manufacture of next generation aeroplane engine components.

- Comfortable with change and driving a flexible approach to working.
- Mechanical Apprentice trained or qualified by an evidence-based track record in:
- The understanding of performance numbers and trends.
- Meeting and exceeding SQCDP (or equivalent) targets.
- Leading, Coaching and Developing direct reports.
- The use of effective communication to build a high performing team.
- Consistently working to standards as defined in the site Business/Quality Management System.
