Summary of role:
We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias, responsible for performing mechanical and electrical maintenance, including fixing and repairing machines and machinery. The role requires experience in aerospace, CNC machining and machining processes, while also supporting general site maintenance and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and company policies. Professional mechanical engineer certifications are advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage workflows in line with business needs and operational priorities, with the flexibility to adapt priorities as operational requirements change.
- Complete planned and preventative maintenance activities in line with maintenance schedules.
- Responsible for carrying out a wide variety of Mechanical and Electrical repairs, installations and maintenance tasks, including CNC machining, machining processes including Mazak, Nakamura, Programmable Logic controllers (PLC’s), Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
- Able to carry out Fitting, Welding, Fabrication, Plumbing and Joinery, where required to ensure the site is well maintained at all times.
- Carry out weekly checks on compressors and monthly checks on emergency lighting across site.
- Able to operate and capture Balbar results and may also interpret and diagnose the results and make machine adjustments.
- Where applicable, able to manage the coolant management procedures, including monitoring coolant strengths, logging results and running the dipstick programme.
- Identify and address issues such as wiring defects, circuit malfunctions, and component degradation.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in full compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Share knowledge and mentor junior/apprentice technicians to build a skilled and capable maintenance team.
- Any other duties that may reasonably be required by the Company from time to time.
As a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Nasmyth Group, the primary objective is to ensure the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of mechanical and electrical systems within the related equipment. By implementing rigorous maintenance and proactive maintenance procedures, conducting regular inspections, and staying up to date with industry standards, the aim is to minimize downtime, prevent failures, and contribute to the overall operational efficiency of all site systems.
Role Requirements:
- Strong understanding of aerospace mechanical and electrical systems.
- Control and manage workflows, implementing effective work processes.
- Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related software applications.
- Solid knowledge of machining processes, with hands-on experience operating Mazak and Nakamura CNC machines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external parties at all levels.
- Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of aerospace mechanical and electrical systems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, with guidance and supervision.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively to meet operational demands.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities within multidisciplinary teams.
