Summary of role: We are seeking a skilled CNC Miller to operate, set, and edit programs on CNC 4 / 6 AXIS MILL MACHINES to manufacture precision components to exact specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in interpreting technical drawings, using measuring equipment, working to tight tolerances and working on exotic materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate and edit programs using CNC milling machines - 4 axis BOKO and 6 axis BOKO.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Working on a range of sizes 100mm – 2000mm DIA.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
- Perform in-process inspection using appropriate measuring tools (e.g., micrometres, verniers, gauges).
- Maintain quality and production standards while ensuring components meet required tolerances.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and ensure machines are kept clean and in good working condition.
- Report any production or quality issues to supervisors or engineering.
- Follow all health and safety protocols in the workshop environment.
- Working with SOPs and Company specific documentation.
Role Requirements:
- Apprentice trained – or Proven experience as a CNC Miller or similar role in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Familiarity with CNC controls such as Heidenhain, ISO, Fanuc or Siemens.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to use inspection equipment and inspect your own work.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good understanding of tooling and machining techniques.
- NVQ / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing (proven experience in a similar setting will be considered).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with CAD / CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, Mastercam).
- Background in prototype work or small-batch production.
- Knowledge of other machining operations such as turning, grinding, or manual milling.
- Ability to problem solve on your own.
