Summary of role
We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabricator with strong experience in refined sheet metal work to produce high-quality components in line with customer specifications. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented and proficient in industry-standard sheet metal fabrication techniques. Welding experience is not required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to read drawings / specifications.
- Working to customer specifications.
- Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff or smooth surfaces, seams or joints of assembled parts, using hand tools or portable power tools.
- Shape metal material over blocks or other forms, using hand tools.
- Lay out, measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on material in accordance with the drawing or template, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares and rulers.
- Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches or drills.
- Safe use of hand tools.
- Safe use of guillotine, band saw and pedestal drills.
- Ability to cut materials to size.
- Completion of job cards.
- Use of general measuring equipment.
- General manual handling and moving materials safely.
- Safe handling of components, jigs and fixtures.
- Maintain equipment, making repairs or modifications when necessary.
- Working on own initiative.
- Operate heavy machinery.
- Assembling Structures: In some cases, may be responsible for assembling larger structures or machines by joining smaller components together. This can involve using fixtures, jigs, and other tools to ensure precise alignment.
- Working with Various Materials: Work with a wide range of thin gauge materials, including steel, aluminium, stainless steel, and other metals.
Health & Safety
You must take responsibility for your own and all staff safety and make sure where you work is safe and hazard free. Ensures accident and near miss forms are completed within 24 hours and completes investigations for all lost time incidents. Ensures risk assessments are completed and implements control measures where necessary. Applies and enforces Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental regulations and processes on a day-to-day basis. Provides positive health and safety attitude. You must adhere to strict safety guidelines, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure the workspace is safe for yourself and others. This includes understanding and managing potential hazards like fumes, sparks, and electrical currents.
Role Requirements

- Experience of refined sheet metal standards.
- Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
- Housekeeping and 6S.
- Suitable independence and good communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Spot welding, seam welding and rivet assembly (preferred).
