An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Underwriter to join a high-performing international underwriting team, focusing on risks across the Middle East and Africa regions. This role offers the chance to play a key part in a growing portfolio, underwriting complex risks while building strong broker and client relationships across these dynamic markets.
Key Responsibilities:- Underwrite a diverse portfolio of business across the Middle East & Africa, ensuring profitability and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
- Assess and price risks across multiple classes, applying strong technical underwriting expertise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and key stakeholders in the region.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the growth strategy of the division.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including loss ratios, exposure management, and capacity deployment.
- Collaborate with internal teams including claims, actuarial, and compliance to ensure best practice.
- Support and mentor junior members of the underwriting team where appropriate.
- Proven underwriting experience within international markets, with exposure to Middle East and/or Africa risks.
- Strong technical underwriting ability across any line of business.
- Established broker relationships and a strong network within the London Market.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to identify and capitalise on new opportunities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
