I'm currently partnering with a highly regarded and rapidly growing London Market MGA seeking to appoint a Head of Claims to lead and further develop its claims function. This is a strategically important leadership appointment, offering the opportunity to shape claims philosophy, influence underwriting performance, enhance broker and carrier relationships, and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
The successful individual will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end claims operation, ensuring the delivery of exceptional claims service while maintaining strong governance, operational efficiency, and market credibility.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the MGA's claims function across multiple product lines.
- Develop and implement claims strategy aligned with wider business objectives.
- Act as the senior claims referral point for complex, contentious, and high-value claims.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with capacity providers, brokers, TPAs, adjusters, solicitors, and other market stakeholders.
- Work closely with underwriting teams to provide claims insights, portfolio feedback, and support product development.
- Oversee delegated claims arrangements and third-party service providers, ensuring service standards and governance requirements are met.
- Drive continuous improvement across claims processes, reporting, controls, and operational performance.
- Produce and present management information, claims trend analysis, and portfolio insights to senior leadership and insurer partners.
- Ensure compliance with FCA requirements, Consumer Duty obligations, and internal governance frameworks.
- Lead, mentor, and develop claims personnel as the function continues to evolve.
- Significant London Market claims experience gained within an MGA, insurer, Lloyd's syndicate, broker, or delegated authority environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing claims teams and/or overseeing claims operations.
- Strong technical claims knowledge across commercial or specialty lines, with the ability to manage complex and high-value claims.
- Experience working with delegated authority arrangements and insurer/carrier relationships.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to use claims data and insights to influence business decisions.
- Strong understanding of London Market processes, regulatory requirements, and claims governance.
