We’re delighted to be supporting a fantastic insurance business in Hertfordshire, part of a wider, well‑established national group, as they look to appoint an experienced Commercial Account Handler to their successful team. About the Role

As a Commercial Account Handler, you will manage a portfolio of commercial clients with premiums typically ranging from £1,000–£10,000, supporting them across a wide variety of risks and classes of business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing accurate documentation and ensuring compliance
  • Liaising with clients, insurers and underwriters to secure the best outcomes
  • Maintaining strong relationships and delivering excellent service
  • Supporting account executives and contributing to smooth team operations

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ commercial insurance experience (ideally 5)
  • A solid understanding of a broad range of commercial classes, such as property, liability, commercial combined, motor fleet, trades, retail, and package policies
  • Experience handling client accounts within the SME commercial space
  • Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence working in a fast‑paced, client-focused environment

Systems Experience (Acturis + Other Methods)

Ideally, you will have experience using Acturis, but the team also values candidates who are comfortable working with a mix of digital platforms and manual processes, such as:

  • Insurer extranets/portals (e.g., Allianz, Aviva, RSA, NIG, Hiscox portals)
  • Other broking systems, such as Open GI, Applied/Epic, CDL, SSP
  • Manual rating methods, including spreadsheets, email-based submissions, PDF documentation
  • Direct insurer communication by email or phone for negotiating terms, quotes, or MTAs
