A leading London Market insurer is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join their Property team, supporting a book of Worldwide Property business. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and numerate individual who enjoys working with data, underwriting systems, and supporting underwriters in achieving business plan targets.
The role will involve a range of administrative and technical support duties, including:
- Underwriting data entry
- Compliance checks
- Document management
- Reporting
It would suit someone with strong attention to detail, good Excel skills and an interest in building a long-term career within underwriting. Experience in Property CAT modelling would be highly beneficial, although not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting underwriters with the administration of a worldwide property portfolio
- Entering underwriting risk data into underwriting systems, including setting up new risks and amending existing entries
- Maintaining and updating aggregate monitoring systems, including RMS
- Attaching and organising documentation within the document library system
- Ensuring underwriting files are kept accurate and up to date, including chasing missing information and documentation
- Monitoring reports for incomplete risks and error items, correcting where required and liaising with underwriters/brokers for outstanding information
- Completing compliance checks for all risks in line with internal and regulatory standards
- Running ad-hoc reports and analyses to support the underwriting team and wider business requirements
Skills & Experience Required:
- Highly numerate with strong attention to detail
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills
- Professional and credible approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and support the wider team
- Ability to work with integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Flexible and adaptable approach to supporting the underwriting function
Desirable:
- Experience in Property CAT modelling
- Familiarity with e-placing platforms and underwriting systems
- Knowledge of the London Market / Lloyd’s environment
- Degree educated (or equivalent experience)
- Progress towards CII qualifications (or willingness to work towards them)
