Narwhal Labs is the company behind DeepBlue OS; an autonomous revenue infrastructure platform that enables any business to answer every call, follow up every lead, and log every interaction across Voice, SMS, Email and WhatsApp. Our platform launched in May 2026, built by a 38-person team with backing from NVIDIA's Inception Program and Google Partner status. We build the infrastructure layer for businesses that want enterprise-grade revenue operations at a fraction of traditional cost.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day management of our financial processes, helping to ensure the accurate and timely recording, analysis and reporting of financial data.

This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy and is committed to maintaining strong financial processes. From time to time, you may also support the wider team with occasional HR-related administrative tasks.

We have an amazing office in the heart of Central Bristol, and we’re looking for someone who is happy to be office-based and enjoys being part of a collaborative, in-person team environment.

This role offered as maternity cover on a fixed-term contract.

  • General Ledger Maintenance - post journal entries accurately, apply correct coding, and reconcile accounts under guidance.
  • Expense Management - review employee expense reports for policy compliance and proper documentation.
  • Financial Reporting Support - assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, including basic variance analysis.
  • Audit & Compliance Support - help gather and organise documentation for audits.
  • Systems & Tools - use Xero and Google Sheets to streamline processes and maintain accurate records.

  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a small business environment
  • Proficiency in Xero and Google Sheets
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and financial standards
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
  • Clear, confident communication skills for working with colleagues and external stakeholders
