Narratology is leading the search to appoint a Senior Manager for Technology Business and Commercial Management on behalf of our global client. This is a newly created role with responsibility for developing and managing their global IT financial and commercial management strategy, framework and delivery, overseeing financial management and value realisation, driving cost optimisation and operational efficiency and ensuring robust financial governance and compliance.

The successful candidate will act as the primary authority for IT financial and commercial management, providing a vital link between technology delivery and business outcomes and an expert guide to technical teams when required. They will collaborate with finance colleagues to implement and enhance IT financial management frameworks and will lead the development of multi-year IT budgeting and forecasting.

With oversight of global IT financial management activities, including forecasting and executive reporting, the Senior Manager will provide clear insights and recommendations on financial performance, proactively identifying opportunities for cost savings and driving continuous improvement in business systems and processes.

Partnering with procurement leadership and the CTO on shaping and managing IT sourcing strategies, they will strengthen relationships with strategic IT suppliers, regularly reviewing project financials, benefit realisation and developing business cases and models for total cost of ownership and return on investment to support decision making.

Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of IT commercial management, financial frameworks and governance processes.
  • Knowledge of financial management, cost management and vendor management concepts as well as their operational implementation.
  • Familiarity with financial and procurement frameworks, policies and controls.
  • Up to date knowledge of current IT and data market trends and technology innovations.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • A professional accounting qualification is desirable but is not essential.
