Narrative Entertainment is the UK's largest independent TV broadcaster, with a portfolio spanning Movies, Entertainment and Children's TV. We operate across linear broadcast channels (GREAT! and POP Networks), AVOD apps and a range of FAST (Free Ad-Supported TV) channels on major platforms. At Narrative, we're passionate about delivering outstanding entertainment to audiences through a carefully curated portfolio of content. Our Programming team plays a vital role in shaping our channels and platforms, ensuring we acquire the right content to engage viewers and support the continued growth of our business.

We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Head of Acquisitions to lead the execution of our content acquisitions activity across broadcast and streaming. Reporting directly to the Director of Programming, this role is the engine behind bringing our acquired content slate to life - turning programming strategy into signed deals and successfully delivered content. This is a hands-on role within a small, agile business where you will have genuine ownership, influence and the opportunity to make a significant commercial impact.

Content Acquisition & Deals

  • Source and evaluate content opportunities across all genres, identifying material that aligns with the programming direction set by the Director of Programming.
  • Lead all aspects of deal negotiation, including financial analysis and forecasting, license terms, rights structures and contract drafting in collaboration with the Legal team.
  • Oversee the full acquisition lifecycle, ensuring all content is successfully contracted, delivered and cleared for broadcast and streaming.

Relationships & Partnerships

  • Build and manage strategic relationships with distributors, studios, production companies and international partners to develop a strong and diverse content pipeline.
  • Represent Narrative Entertainment at industry markets, events and screenings to maintain strong market awareness and identify new acquisition opportunities.

Portfolio Management & Performance

  • Manage the acquisitions budget, ensuring effective allocation of spend across genres and platforms while reporting financial performance to the Director of Programming.
  • Track and evaluate content performance using audience data, ratings and commercial insight to inform future acquisition decisions and renewal discussions.
  • Work collaboratively with Programming, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Legal teams to manage content inventory, communicate deal information and ensure seamless delivery to air.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and industry developments, providing recommendations and insight to support the wider content strategy.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

  • Significant experience in content acquisitions within a TV broadcaster, streaming platform or major distributor.
  • Proven success negotiating complex, high-value content agreements and managing commercial deal negotiations.
  • Deep knowledge of the international content marketplace, with established relationships across distributors and studios.
  • Strong editorial judgement with the ability to identify compelling content that resonates with target audiences.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including financial modelling, forecasting and budget management.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business functions.
  • Comfortable operating within a lean, agile business, taking ownership and working independently where required.
  • Thorough understanding of content rights, licensing structures and windowing, with the ability to adapt to an evolving content and distribution landscape.

If you don’t have all of the above but feel that you have the right experience and skillset to excel in the role, we’d love to hear about it!
