To ensure smooth functioning of the nursing team in AITU. Provide care for patients who are critically ill post surgeries. Assess patients on a regular basis and provide medication & care as per physicians’ instructions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Adhere and comply with Organization Regulations and Administrative Policies.
  • Adhere and comply with policies and procedure related to patient care, infection control, patient safety and accreditation standard.
  • Provides clinical supervision of staff and ensures high quality of nursing services.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence in all aspects of patient care.
  • Monitoring of patient care delivery process for the staff posted in the area.
  • Verify and ensure patient care documentation and handover process are completed as per policies and standards for assigned shift.
  • Ensure timely execution of all drug and non-drug order for the patients for the assigned shift.
  • Always maintain privacy and confidentiality of patient information and records.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures for medication management especially for high alert medicines, LASA and Narcotics.
  • Ensure the involvement of the patient, family and significant others in the patients care.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary planning and provisioning of patient care.
  • Demonstrates correct use and assembly of required equipments, instruments and appropriate cleaning of the same.
  • Communicate all necessary information to the team in timely and constructive manner.
  • Ensure proper allocation and deployment of nursing staff as per the requirement to maintain patient safety and quality of care.
  • Monitor clinical and other established performance indicators to ensure ongoing quality Improvement.
  • Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care and assess the impact of nursing intervention as appropriate.
  • Enhance the working environment through teamwork and mutual respect for others.
  • Resolve conflicts and patient care problems/issues and take decisions accordingly or in consultation with the NS whenever required.
  • Undertake Clinical/Nursing audit whenever required.
  • Follow international patient safety goals.
  • Report all near miss, sentinel events and any other incidents.
  • Identify and escalate any life threatening issues, associated procedures, protocols and policy guideline.
  • Comply with all quality standards as decided by organization for patient safety and quality of care.
  • Ensure proper inventory management of their allocated Units.
  • Manage all medical equipment in their respective area and inform clinical engineering team in case of any issues.
  • Participate and contribute in scheduled in-service training programs like ACLS, BLS, PALS, NALS (if applicable) CNEs, conferences etc.
  • Identify training needs for the staffs in the team.
  • Provide training and demonstrate correct use and assembly of required equipments, instruments, implants and appropriate before and after care of the same.
  • Ensure staff working in the area attend the required clinical & non-clinical training programs.
  • Knowledge on drug and intra venous fluid calculations.
  • Perform Intercostal Drainage, ROMOVAC drain monitoring and documentation.
  • Ability to position patients appropriately.
  • Evaluate Intra Cranial Pressure and Glasgow Coma Scale.
  • Knowledge on normal laboratory values and Panic values.
  • Knowledge on Colostomy, Stapler removal and nursing care.
  • Knowledge on FAST HUG Protocol.
  • Assist in Intake and Output Documentation.
  • Administrate, store and dispose of Narcotics as per policy.
  • Knowledge about the different types of sterilisation and aseptic techniques followed in NH.
  • Monitor and demonstrate infection control guidelines, practices and bio medical waste management.
  • Processing patient samples for ABG, VBG, GRBS, CARDIAC SOB, ACT & PT INR on POCT devices.
  • Monitoring flags and trouble shooting of POCT equipment on daily basis, coordinating with Biomedical team, IT department and Lab POCT consultants as and when required.
  • Monitors Inter Quality control for ABG, Cardiac triage, PT INR and Glucometers on day to day basis.
  • Monitors EQAS / PT samples and inter instrument Comparison related to POCT.
  • Day to day updating documents pertaining to JCI and CAP standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education: Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Registration: Valid registration in the State Nursing Council from where B.Sc. Nursing/GNM was completed.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Knowledge & Skills Required: Knowledge and understanding of ethics governing nursing/midwifery practice. Good communication & interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise, multi-task and lead a team. Be proactive, punctual and empathetic.
