ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Naran is developing a high value, low-volume internal combustion engine powered hypercar programme.
We are looking for a Lead Prototype Technician to join the team and take ownership of the prototype build and support the development phase of the project.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team in the early stages of creating a new and exciting hypercar brand.
THE ROLE
This is an onsite role for a prototype technician based in the midlands.
As Lead Prototype Technician, you will be the key person responsible for running the physical build of the Naran prototypes as well as supporting the Design Verification Plan (DVP).
Alongside these key responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to shape the prototype and production build facility plan as Naran Automotive grow as a company.
You will lead a small team of technicians while remaining hands-on throughout the build, balancing time, budget, and quality at every stage.
You will work closely with the Engineering and Programme Directors to proactively plan each build phase in advance, finding creative solutions to work around all the usual issues & complications that arise during a new vehicle programme.
You will liaise frequently with the main team to keep progress moving and to identify and resolve issues before they become problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and run the prototype build programme for the Naran Hypercar, from powertrain mules through to production-intent vehicles.
- Take ownership of build delivery against time, budget, and quality targets.
- Support vehicle development activities by maintaining and updating vehicles as required by the engineering team.
- Lead a small, multi-disciplinary team including model makers and technicians.
- Remain hands-on during builds and development, working directly on the car alongside the team.
- Problem solve live on car incl. fixing issues such as fit and integration as they arise.
- Work from engineering drawings and CAD, following engineering direction throughout the build.
- Proactively plan build sequencing and timing in close collaboration with the Engineering and Programme Directors.
- Maintain frequent communication throughout the build to flag and resolve issues early.
- Uphold build quality, documentation, and workshop health & safety standards throughout.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a prototype vehicle or motorsport technician, preferably in a leadership role.
- Proven experience of leading a small, multi-disciplinary technical team.
- Experience working in a low volume, high value, high quality automotive environment where attention to detail matters.
- Strong hands-on technical build experience across all vehicle systems.
- Highly proficient in welding and fabrication, experience working with composite materials.
- Ability to read and work confidently from engineering drawings and CAD.
- A self starter with a proactive, can-do attitude with a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across engineering and programme teams.
- Open to periodic international travel to support vehicle development overseas.
