Naran is developing a high value, low-volume internal combustion engine powered hypercar programme. We are looking for an Electrical Integration Engineer to join the team and develop the vehicle’s electrical and electronic systems, from prototype build and integration through to production. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team in the early stages of creating a new and exciting car brand.

THE ROLE

Working as part of the Naran electrical team, as Electrical Integration Engineer, you will contribute to the integration, verification and hands-on build of the electrical and electronic systems across the labcar and the vehicle. Including power distribution, body control, lighting, HMI, instrumentation and the powertrain interfaces. This is very much a hands-on position, and you will work directly on the harness and the car, building, terminating, routing, commissioning and fault-finding, rather than engineering from a desk alone. You will work closely with the wider engineering team and with our suppliers to specify, procure, build and prove out the vehicle’s electrical systems. As part of a small team on an early-stage programme, you will have the autonomy to define how the work is done, and the responsibility to see it through.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the integration and verification of the vehicle’s electrical and electronic systems, on the labcar and on vehicle including power distribution, body control, lighting, HMI, instrumentation and powertrain interfaces.
  • Work directly on the car and harness. Building, terminating, routing and commissioning wiring, and carrying out reworks by hand.
  • Help build, commission and maintain the labcar and other EE test rigs.
  • Verify harness builds against the pin-to-pin design, capture as-built records, implement reworks and feed corrections back into the design.
  • Create and execute Design Verification Plans (DVPs), including test plans, dry runs, fault injection and sign-off evidence.
  • Diagnose, configure and flash ECUs across the vehicle, working with diagnostic protocols and DTCs.
  • Debug problems end to end – across harnesses, connectors, CAN/LIN, software configuration and supplier component behaviour.
  • Characterise donor and supplier components. Determining pinouts, CAN behaviour and power-mode response when documentation is unavailable.
  • Support supplier and partner engagements by defining our requirements, reviewing what comes back and testing what arrives.
  • Work with vehicle-level requirements, challenging and proving them out, and feeding integration reality back into the architecture early.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or equivalent practical experience in electrical, electronic or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years experience in electrical/electronic systems development and integration, ideally from an OEM or Tier 1 vehicle programme, or from motorsport, low-volume or specialist vehicle engineering.
  • Strong hands-on capability, confident working directly on the car and harness including crimping, terminating, routing and rework.
  • Practical experience integrating and testing electrical/electronic systems on real hardware, not only in simulation.
  • Confident with CAN – reading traces, decoding messages and using tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, PCAN or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience flashing and diagnosing ECUs, and working with diagnostic protocols such as UDS and implementing & decoding fault codes/ DTCs.
  • Able to read and work confidently from wiring schematics, pin-to-pin harness designs and system architecture diagrams.
  • Strong bench skills experience in using multimeter, oscilloscope, breakout boxes, crimping and rework.
  • Methodical record-keeping, producing test evidence, as-built records and defect logs that others can pick up and use.
  • A self-starter with a proactive, pragmatic approach and confident making a judgement on the standard of work each task warrants.
  • Strong communication skills, able to raise issues early and directly across engineering, programme and supplier teams.
  • Open to occasional travel within the UK and Europe to suppliers, test facilities and proving grounds.
  • Full driving licence, and the right to work in the UK, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
